Getting Comfortable With Your Direct Sell Business | Tip Talk With Wicklessmolly

March 10, 2014  Tip of the Day

Direct sellers have to take it upon themselves to figure out ways to get comfortable sharing their companies products.  For some of us this is really easy and for others it will be one of the most challenging obstacles in our business.  I recommend a three step strategy to assist you in getting more comfortable with the act of sharing  your business.

  1. Share your business ideas with your friends and family who are SAFE.  I say safe because not all of them support us in our business and when we have someone who is not supportive they can throw grenades at us with their words and that does nothing for our confidence.
  2. Share your business with strangers by offering them a company sample and catalog.  By sharing with strangers, if you make mistakes then who cares, they do not know you and you just might make a new customer in the process.  Make it a point to do this at least 3 times a week.
  3. Share your business with those you kinds of know but not really know once you start to grow your confidence and be sure to give them sample products or promotional products.  For some reason these are some of the hardest people to share our business with because in our minds we think they are the ones to judge us and talk badly about us to our real friends and family.  So as we practice on friends and family and then strangers, we will grow our confidence and start to think more rationale; therefore, we will finally come to a point where we believe that everyone just cannot live without our products.

Newsletter | Contacting Customers

March 6, 2014  Tip of the Day

Sending out a monthly newsletter for your business is always a great way to stay in contact with the customers who love your products.  In reality, sending the newsletter is the easy, contacting the customers is something most of us put off.  Take time this month to contact at least 10 of your customers who signed up to receive to your newsletter.  Keep a track of the ones you contact in a notebook and then next month pick out 10 more and continue with this for three months and then start back at the beginning and contact your first 10 plus 10 more.  This way you will have a pattern that you establish and will eventually have contacted everyone on your list.

March 5, 2014  Tip of the Day

Asking, sharing, and doing are all part of being a business owner. As business owners we all have to do this constantly, relentlessly and diligently. Sometimes it seems as if that is all we do but just know that people only listen some of the time so most of the time you will have a buyer because you will catch someone listening!

March 4, 2014  Tip of the Day

I think it is so awesome when consultants come up with new ideas to make their businesses stand out; HOWEVER, there is a very fine line for the amount of time we put into new ideas and we must remember that ideas do not sell products, ACTIONS sell products. In other words, the only way to make an idea work is to put into action.

For example, coming up with party ideas is great but if you do not go out and get those parties booked why waste the time finding party ideas? In order to get your business working you MUST interact with people and talk about your business and ask them to have a party and you can always start with "I have a great Scentsy party idea and the first 4 hostesses to book in the month of March can...and then share your party idea. This is your business so let others stick their nose in it! haha

Recruiting Practices for Your Direct Sales Business | Direct Sales

July 30, 2013 Tip of the Day

Recruiting in our direct sales business is one of the most rewarding options we have as direct sales consultants so establishing recruiting practices would be something of great importance to our business as well as the recruits we sign up.  Here are some suggestions and then take some time today to add to this list to make it yours.

  1. Never share income claims
  2. Never offer free gifts for signing up
  3. Never use your credit card to sign anyone up
  4. Honesty is the best policy
  5. Make no promises that you cannot keep!
  6. First and foremost make sure your recruits is aware of the company policy and procedures and go over this page by page with your new recruit.
  7. You director should not responsible for training your new recruit, you should so be sure to  schedule a training time with your new recruit.  If you are unsure of what to train them on, then contact your director for a list.
  8. Remember that Directors offer ongoing training for their teams and encourage your new recruit to be part of this training whenever possible.
  9. Here are some suggestions for you to share with your new recruit and what to train them on.  Keep in mind that we have about 6 weeks of a new recruits attention, so we will impact them the most during these first six weeks.   The more contact we have the more successful they will be:
    • Company policy and procedures.
    • Schedule a launch party in the first 10 days of their business and have them work on their contact list for 100 people to share their new business with.
    • Suggest they book 6 parties in six weeks
    • Give them a presentation guideline to use.
    • Make sure they have a photo of what a new consultant display can look like.
    • Make sure they understand the company order form and the warranties and the return policies.
    • Schedule a two hour workstation navigation where you will guide them on where things are in the workstation or back office.
    • Document your training and maybe even keep a notebook just for that recruit so that you can refresh your memory of things you have gone over with them.
    • Check in with your new recruit everyday for the first 10 days by simple sending an email, Facebook with them or texting or even a phone call.
    • Go over your company's website subscription if they offer one.
    • Go over the product FAQ's in your workstation or back office.  This is so important because we want them to be able to look like professionals to their customers.
    • Make sure they understand where to see the most recent company updates in the workstation or back office.
    • Be sure to share the best place in your company's workstation or back office where they can review training materials the company offers with your new recruits and let them know that they will want to look this over in detail when they have time.
    • Pat yourself on the back for doing an awesome training with your new recruit!
Success means training

Direct Sales | Brainstorming Party Details | Tip Talk With Wicklessmolly

July 29, 2013 Tip of the Day

Direct sales is all about parties and the action step details are so important to our direct sales businesses.  When we think about parties we need to brainstorm and write down the things that come to mind that will guide us to creating our action step details.  Please refer to the How To Plant Seed Part 1, 2 and 3 for this and then make our list.  Here are my brainstorming ideas for parties, please note they are not in any particular order because they are just ideas for what I will be putting on my action planner.  After we brainstorm we will start writing out the details for our steps.

  1. Create a goal for number of parties you will have a month, pick a day of the week and schedule parties on those days, so if it 4 parties a month then choose one or two days a wk. for your customers to choose from.
  2. Hostess Packets:  what to put in them:  catalogs, order forms, specials, hostess rewards, recruiting brochure, business cards, photo of what they could get for having a $500 party

  4. Hostess Coaching:  party goal, number of times she can expect to hear from me
  5. Party Display:  What you can get for a $500 party
  6. Party Presentation: talk only 10 min. warranty, thank everyone, share fb page for customer ideas and gifts, share that you are looking for a fundraiser, incentive trips, team meetings, practice and have a different prsentations for different kinds of parties, theme ideas,
  7. Thank You:  at time of books, at party in front of guests and send personal note after party, buy thank you
  8. Product Ideas:  look online for latest colors, subscribe to a trust worthy magazine know your products...memorize them, put ideas on how to use on your display
  9. Specials:  order flyers and share, order samples if you can
  10. Product Warranties:  let customer see it in wriing
  11. Hostess Exclusive: bring flyer and put on display and pass around at party
  12. Recruiting mirror display

Direct Sales | Baking Thoughtfulness From One Generation To Another

July 26, 2013 Tip of the Day

Part of the fun of being a direct sales consultant and working from home is scheduling home parties, events and one on one's with our customers around our schedules.  The biggest tip I have for direct sales consultants is to keep your Friday or at least one day a week open or at least part of the day open so that you can designate this time for showing appreciation for those who support you with your business.  There are so many ways to show your thoughtfulness and baking is one of them.  Today lets bake with our children and share the importance of why you are baking and for who you are baking.  In reality this is a life lesson that will create wonderful family memories for you and your children.  Just think it is all because you made the decision to be a direct sales consultant who works from home and who took enough time to show others how much you appreciate them and then took it a step further and decided to pass that thoughtfulness down to your children.
